I cut maths and school out of my life from that day forward. I realise I cut my nose to spite my face, but I want to say to you, that if you ask for help on a forum and your post gets closed for no reason, or you get shot down, don’t take it personally. Try again or try another forum. Just do not ask in a non-related forum!! Don’t do what I did, I still love maths, I just wish I had said, bugger you chap and continued. There will always be someone who also struggled and will be willing to help you. You just need to persevere. Ask on your favourite blog site, or Linux site, if they block you from asking questions at a site. Don’t give up on Linux because some idiot on forum x said you must go learn to ask questions, and locked the thread.

-Q: I’m not sure how to say this, but my Ubuntu does not shut down all the way. It seems to have stopped, but I see the terminal prompt. I can’t do anything but push the power button for it to shut down. It goes off if I hold down the power button, but I don’t want to corrupt my machine. +À l'âge de huit ans, j'ai compris que tout ce qui est multiplié par cinq est égal à la moitié de ce nombre et qu'il suffit de déplacer la virgule ou d'ajouter un zéro. C'était génial, c'était mon moment d'illumination. À partir de là, j'ai essayé de trouver des modèles mathématiques pour me faciliter la vie. En y repensant aujourd'hui, le recul étant sans faille, etc., je me rends compte que certains d'entre eux étaient vraiment alambiqués, mais cela m'a aidé à faire des maths dans ma tête. Tout allait bien jusqu'à ce que je change d'école. Soudain, j'ai eu un professeur de mathématiques qui, au lieu de nous encourager, nous battait. Il y avait un problème, je le faisais dans ma tête et j'avais la solution avant qu'il ne commence à l'expliquer. Encore une fois, le recul étant sans faille, j'ai pu passer pour un je-sais-tout, mais honnêtement, c'était simple : j'adorais les maths. J'avais ma façon d'arriver à la réponse, qui n'était pas celle du programme, et il nous battait constamment parce que nous n'utilisions pas la méthode du programme. Tout cela a pris fin brutalement un jour, lorsqu'il m'a jeté un dictionnaire et m'a cassé le nez pour avoir laissé échapper une réponse à quelque chose que j'avais compris auparavant. À partir de ce jour, j'ai rayé les mathématiques et l'école de ma vie. Je me rends compte que j'ai scié la branche sur laquelle j'étais assis, mais je tiens à vous dire que si vous demandez de l'aide sur un forum et que votre message est fermé sans raison, ou que vous vous faites incendier, ne le prenez pas personnellement. Réessayez ou essayez un autre forum. Simplement, ne posez pas votre question sur un forum sans rapport !! Ne faites pas ce que j’ai fait ; j’aime toujours les maths, j’aurais juste aimé dire, « Va te faire voir, mec ! » et continuer. Il y aura toujours quelqu’un qui aura également eu des difficultés et qui sera prêt à vous aider. Il suffit de persévérer. Demandez sur votre site de blog préféré, ou sur un site Linux, si, sur un autre site, ils vous empêchent de poser des questions. N'abandonnez pas Linux parce qu'un idiot sur le forum X a dit que vous deviez apprendre à poser des questions et a verrouillé le fil de discussion.

 Q: I’ve now switched to Ubuntu permanently, but I keep running into problems. I want to play Skyrim and followed the tutorial here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOsF29ybsTo, it is not working and I don’t know how to troubleshoot it or fix it. Can you help me? Skyrim is Special Edition on steam and my Ubuntu is 22.04 and everything is updated. My PC is i5 3.4GHz and my GFX is Nvidia 1050Ti and my RAM is 16GB.
-A: Don’t use outdated tutorials. I just tested it for you and I set Proton version 8.0.4 as my version on Steam and it works out of the box without needing to faff with other stuff. The first time you launch it, it will take a while as it needs to cache all the textures, but it should be fast from there on.

+Q : Je ne sais pas trop comment le dire, mais mon Ubuntu ne s'éteint pas complètement. Il semble s'être arrêté, mais je vois l'invite du terminal. Je ne peux rien faire d'autre que d'appuyer sur le bouton d'alimentation pour qu'il s'éteigne. Il s'éteint si je maintiens le bouton d'alimentation enfoncé, mais je ne veux pas corrompre ma machine. Je n'ai eu aucun problème avec les versions précédentes d'Ubuntu.

 A: Ubuntu does not “see” dirty partitions. You will need to fix it in Windows and do a proper eject and you should see it in Ubuntu.

+R : Ubuntu ne « voit » pas les partitions sales. Vous devrez la réparer dans Windows et l'éjecter correctement pour qu'elle apparaisse dans Ubuntu.

 A: Open the disks utility and click on a drive in the left side list. On the right, you will see filesystem /partition. Click on one (the block). Below that you will see how full the drive is and the contents. This is important. The boot drive will have /boot/efi on it, and your data will say mounted at Filesystem root. This is the drive you DO NOT want to format, unless you want to lose it all. You can use the disks utility to do the formatting.

 A: Use an older Nvidia driver, 525 served me well. It may do so for you too (look towards the bottom of the driver list provided by Ubuntu drivers util).

 Q: Hi there, can you help me install a theme in Firefox on my Ubuntu? I Found it here https://github.com/EliverLara/firefox-sweet-theme. I copy and paste their installation script, yet it fails. My Ubuntu version is still 20.04 and Firefox is 117. I have tried to find the XPS file in the zip I downloaded, but this one is different.

J'ai les derniers pilotes Nvidia, le système d'exploitation, le noyau et les mises à jour. J'ai tout essayé. J'ai cherché sur Google pendant des jours. Je n'ai aucune idée de ce qui ne va pas.

+R : Je suis désolé, je n'ai vu cela que maintenant, donc votre réponse sera un peu tardive. Si vous n'êtes pas encore revenu à Budgie, votre image montre que vous avez Files (alias Nautilus) au format liste ; cela signifie que, pour obtenir ce que vous voulez, vous devez soit faire un clic droit dans la barre d'adresse, soit changer votre vue en vue icône et faire un clic droit dans un espace vide.
