+Pendant des années nous avons ricané en nous moquant de Microsoft chaque fois qu'ils ont fait quelque chose d'un tant soit peu mal, comme collecter des données d'utilisation. Avec la sortie d'Ubuntu 12.10, c'est au tour de Canonical de faire quelque chose d'affreusement mal, en envoyant vos séquences de touches à Facebook, Amazon et d'autres partenaires. C'est une fonctionnalité qui est activée par défaut. Bien pire encore, il n'y a pas de fenêtre de consentement vous prévenant que Canonical enregistrera les séquences de touches lorsque vous faites des recherches dans le dash d'Unity, juste un tout petit bouton info à droite en bas du dash qui vous conduit à une page de renseignements (à droite) qui paraissent assez effrayants.
+Vous pouvez désactiver cette « fonctionnalité » via le panneau de Protection de la vie privée dans les Paramètres système, mais c'est activé par défaut et pas du tout évident à moins de cliquer par hasard sur ce petit bouton info.

The only feature on the notebook which didn’t work out-of-the-box was the integrated fingerprint reader. Unity performance is good with 2GB of RAM. It feels a bit snappier than 12.04 did, and I rarely get application crashes, though they do happen sometimes.

+L'installation s'est passée sans problème et le wifi a fonctionné tout de suite. Le seul périphérique  du portable qui n'a pas fonctionné dès l'installation était le lecteur d'empreinte digitale intégré. La performance d'Unity est bonne avec 2 Go de RAM. J'ai l'impression qu'elle est un peu plus réactive que la 12.04 et les applications ne se plantent que rarement.

Picture preview allows you to email the previewed picture, but here’s where some of that web application integration falls down. +Il se peut que la nouvelle fonctionnalité la plus appréciable soit la capacité d'avoir un aperçu dans Unity de certains contenus, notamment la musique. Un clic droit sur les résultats d'une recherche affiche des informations sur la musique et, parfois, un aperçu sonore de celle-ci. +Au niveau des performances, Ubuntu 12.10 est une amélioration. Canonical y a introduit quelques nouvelles fonctionnalités, mais celles-ci ont besoin d'amélioration avant de devenir vraiment utiles. Et, pour ce qui concerne certaines de ces fonctionnalités, Canonical mérite pas mal de réprimandes à cause de l'envoi des séquences de touches à Amazon/Facebook/etc.
