This month, we’re going to finish our look at one of Ubuntu’s drawing programs, specifically for doing diagrams like flowcharts. It’s DIA, the open source analogue to Visio. A Quick Recap on Installing and Launching DIA Hit the key combination CTRL-ALT-T on your keyboard. That key combination will start a Terminal command-line session. In Terminal, type: sudo apt-get install dia and hit Enter. Answer any prompts appropriately and DIA will be installed. Launching DIA Now that DIA is installed, click the App Drawer (9 white boxes in a grid, bottom left of your screen): Type DIA at the top of the screen in the search box (shown above). Click DIA and the application will launch:
Ce mois-ci, nous allons terminer notre d’examen d’un des programmes de dessin chez Ubuntu, en particulier pour créer des diagrammes comme des organigrammes. Il s’agit de DIA, l’équivalent Open Source de Visio.
Un bref résumé sur l’installation et le lancement de DIA
Appuyez sur la combinaison CTRL-ALT-T sur votre clavier et une session du Terminal en ligne de commande démarrera. Dans le Terminal, tapez :
sudo apt-get install dia
et appuyez sur Entrée. Répondez convenablement à toutes les invites et DIA sera installé.
Le lancement de DIA
Maintenant que DIA est installé, cliquez sur le tiroir d’applis (9 carrés blancs dans une grille en bas à gauche de votre écran) :
Tapez DIA en haut de l’écran dans la zone de recherches (ci-dessus).
Cliquez sur DIA et l’application se lancera :

Try the third box in the second row to create an ellipse: Let’s try adding a Zigzag line (3rd row, 4th item). Use the same process to connect the decision box to the ellipse as we used last month to connect the first box to the decision box. Click on a ‘node’ once you see the first box change color as you hover the mouse, then hover over the second box until the color changes again and click the mouse to ‘stamp down’ the opposite end. A zigzag line with an arrow from the first node to the second node will be created: We can also add a label to the ellipse by clicking the Text tool (capital letter T, 2nd row 1st box), then click within the ellipse and type to add the desired label: If the text is not quite where we want, we can click the pointer tool again, click the text, and move it to the desired location:
Modification du niveau de zoom
Cliquez sur le bouton Zoom In (zoomer en avant), puis tirer de coin en coin pour agrandir la page sur laquelle nous travaillons :
Les outils de dessin à main levée
Il existe également des outils de dessin à main levée. Essayez la troisième boîte sur la deuxième ligne pour créer une ellipse :
Essayons d’ajouter une ligne en zigzag (3e ligne, 4e élément). Utilisez le même processus que celui que nous avons utilisé le mois dernier pour connecter la première boîte à la boîte de décision, pour connecter la boîte de décision à l’ellipse. Cliquez sur un « nœud » une fois que vous aurez vu la première boîte changer de couleur pendant que le curseur de la souris est dessus, puis mettez le curseur sur la deuxième boîte jusqu’à ce que sa couleur change aussi et faites un clic pour bien fixer le bout opposé. Une ligne en zigzag avec une flèche, du premier nœud au deuxième nœud, sera créée :
Nous pouvons également ajouter une étiquette à l’ellipse en cliquant sur l’outil Text (T maj, 2e ligne, 1re boîte), puis cliquez à l’intérieur de l’ellipse et tapez l’étiquette désirée :
Si le texte ne se trouve pas exactement là où nous le voulons, nous pouvons cliquer sur l’outil pointeur à nouveau, cliquer sur le texte et le déplacer à l’emplacement voulu :
Changing Default Colors In the bottom left, you’ll see a black and a white box overlapping each other. This is the default color tool. Click the black box and it will bring up a dialogue box allowing you to choose a new foreground color, clicking the white box will let you establish a new background color. Click the Document figure on the Flowchart palette (2nd row, 4th item), then ‘stamp’ it down on the page, and you’ll see the new figure has the new color scheme: Changing Line Widths To the right of the color boxes, you can change the default line width. The next line you draw after making the change will have the new line width by default, and will now use the newly chosen default color, as well: In conclusion, DIA is a powerful diagramming/flowcharting tool. We barely scratched the surface the last two months of what it’s capable of. I encourage you to try it and see how useful it can be. Modification des couleurs par défaut
En bas à gauche, vous verrez une boîte noire et une boîte blanche qui se chevauchent. C’est l’outil de couleur par défaut. Cliquez sur la boîte noire et une boîte de dialogue s’affichera pour vous permettre de choisir une nouvelle couleur pour le premier plan ; avec un clic sur la boîte blanche, vous pourrez choisir une nouvelle couleur d’arrière-plan. Cliquez sur la figure Document sur la palette de l’organigramme (2e ligne, 4e élément), puis « tamponnez-le » sur la page et vous verrez que les couleurs de la nouvelle figure sont celles que vous venez de choisir.
Modification de la largeur des lignes
À droite des boîtes de couleur, vous pouvez changer la largeur de ligne par défaut. La prochaine ligne que vous dessinerez après avoir fait le changement aura, par défaut, la nouvelle largeur de ligne et utilisera la nouvelle couleur par défaut que vous venez de choisir :
En conclusion, DIA est un outil de diagrammes/organigrammes puissant. Pendant ces deux mois, nous avons à peine exploré tout ce qu’il sait faire. Je vous invite à l’essayer pour voir à quel point il peut être utile.
