Linux in Easy Steps, 7th Edition by Mike McGrath

This book was both easy to read and informative.

It is aimed at new users to Linux and leads through the steps of introducing Linux, choosing a Distro (Version), getting started and using Linux. There are many versions of Linux available and the book briefly discusses several of the more popular versions.

It then focuses on Linux Mint as that is a version that will be most user friendly to users switching from the Microsoft Windows operating system. The book contains 10 chapters and an Index.

Successive chapters cover getting started, setting up the system, choosing applications, and ends with using the Internet, Office, Media and more. Linux Mint uses the familiar graphical interface.

Thinking back to my personal introduction to Linux years ago, it was learn as you go and had bumps in the road as I learned. This book would have been really useful at that time.

If you are an experienced Linux user you don’t need this book, but if you are just jumping into Linux this book will be extremely helpful to you. That said, even an experienced user may get some learning from the book.

The book flows well and is easy to follow as it leads you through the many parts of becoming a Happy Linux user.
