Torvalds Shortlisted for 2012 Millennium Tech Prize
The Technology Academy Finland has shortlisted Linus Torvalds for its 2012 Millennium Technology Prize, worth over €1 million (US$1.3 million).
There is one other shortlisted candidate for this year's prize, Japanese stem-cell researcher Shinya Yamanaka.
The prize, awarded every two years, has previously honored other contributors to the field of information technology.
In 2004 Tim Berners-Lee won the first Millennium Technology Prize for his creation of the technology underpinning the worldwide Web.

HP will certify Ubuntu 12.04 on some Proliant servers
LINUX VENDOR Canonical has announced that its upcoming Ubuntu 12.04 long term support (LTS) Linux distribution will be certified for a number of HP's Proliant servers.
HP Proliant servers command significant market share and although Linux vendors such as Red Hat and Oracle have already received certification, Canonical's Ubuntu 12.04 LTS will be the first version of Ubuntu to be certified on a number of HP Proliant generation 8 servers. As part of HP certification, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS drivers and management software will be included as part of HP's Proliant warranty.
