 Why Kdenlive? Well, I’ve tried most of the video editing applications in Linux, and Kdenlive is, in my opinion, the most full-featured of them all. Yes, it’s (technically) a KDE application, but it will run equally well in any non-KDE *buntu. Since it now uses more modern compilation methods, Kdenlive won’t pull in a huge pile of KDE libraries. Yes, it’ll pull some. But nowhere near as many as it used to! Why Kdenlive?  Anyway, in this series of articles, we’ll start from the basics and work our way up to the more complicated stuff. There is, for me, a bug in Kdenlive that if I render a video of about an hour I get a crash error message at the end of the render, referencing the melt library. If you also get this, don’t worry.  +Vous avez peut-être déjà Kdenlive dans votre gestionnaire de paquets. Regardez. Sinon, vous pouvez ajouter un PPA et installer Kdenlive avec ces commandes:

J'y ai trouvé un bug : lorsque je crée une vidéo d'environ une heure, j'obtiens un message d'erreur de crash à la fin du rendu, faisant référence à la bibliothèque melt. Si vous l'avez aussi, pas de panique. La vidéo est produite et fonctionnera parfaitement.

 +Pour cette première partie de la série, regardons l'agencement de Kdenlive. Évidemment, lorsque vous lancez Kdenlive, il est pratiquement vide. J'ai ajouté quelques trucs pour vous montrer à quoi ça ressemble « en action ».

 +1. C'est ici que vous chargez l'audio et la vidéo dont vous aurez besoin pour un projet. J'ai ajouté un fichier vidéo (représenté par une miniature) et un fichier audio (représenté par une icône de note de musique).
 +2. C'est la fenêtre des propriétés pour tout ce qui est sélectionné actuellement. Dans cet exemple, la portion de vidéo affichée dans le cadre 6 soulignée en rouge. Notez les deux onglets en bas, pour passer des effets aux propriétés de la vidéo.

 6. This is where you’ll do all the fancy stuff. Notice that one video is on line 1 and one is on line 2, and there’s an overlap. See the yellow box on the overlap? That’s a transition. See the pink triangle at the end of the video on line 2? That’s a fade-out effect. The fade-out can be altered using the properties in section 2. Choisissez un temps sur la ligne des temps (cadre 5) et vous aurez une prévisualisation de votre ou vos éditions.

 +Un petit exemple

 +Finissons ce premier article par une petit exemple. Disons que vous voulez remplacer complètement la piste audio d'une vidéo par une autre piste audio (une voix off, ou une musique). Vous allez déplacer vos deux morceaux, audio et vidéo, dans la fenêtre en haut à gauche. Puis placez votre vidéo sur la piste vidéo 1, et votre morceau audio sur la piste audio 1. Cliquez sur l'icône qui désactive l'audio de la piste vidéo 1. Vous voulez un fondu au noir à la fin de la vidéo ? Faites un clic droit sur la piste vidéo 1 et choisissez Ajouter un effet > Fondu > Fondu vers le noir. Faites un clic droit sur la piste audio 1 et choisissez Ajouter un effet > Fondu > Fondu à la fermeture. Voilà, c'est fait ! Vous aurez quelque chose comme ce qui est sur l'image.
