 The installation was just as smooth as Ubuntu, and it seems to have less software pre-installed than Ubuntu (though I haven’t recently checked the current Ubuntu LiveCD environments). In my case, this is a positive thing, as I prefer to install only my own software, and avoid as much extra bloat as possible.

+Pop!_OS est une distribution basée sur Ubuntu, en mettant l'accent plus particulièrement sur la créativité. Il donne accès au Pop Store, qui propose divers logiciels de créativité pour la création et l'édition de photos, sites Web, designs ou tâches CAO.

+L'installation était tout aussi fluide que celle d'Ubuntu et j'ai l'impression qu'il y a moins de logiciels pré-installés que chez Ubuntu (bien que je n'aie pas vérifié récemment les environnements actuels des LiveCD d'Ubuntu). Dans mon cas, c'est un point positif, car je préfère n'installer que mes propres logiciels et éviter ainsi, autant que possible, des surcharges.

 Should I switch?

You can replace the Pop Store with extra PPAs, or by using a distribution with more expansive repositories (such as Arch Linux with the Arch User Repository). And the theme could easily be replicated in any existing installation. Last I checked, compatibility on devices was pretty good for almost all distributions, so it’s also not bringing new drivers with it. That being said, if you like Ubuntu but want more creative software accessible in the official repositories, you may like Pop!_OS. I’d highly recommend seeing if you can find a thorough listing, or checking the store on a liveCD, before taking the plunge to install it.

+Elle est quand même basée sur Ubuntu. Aussi, si vous préférez une autre distribution (Fedora, Arch Linux, etc.) plutôt qu'Ubuntu, vous ne serez sans doute pas convaincu par Pop!_OS. J'ai également remarqué quelques bugs qui, me semble-t-il, devraient être corrigés dans la version finale, par exemple, l'icône de l'installeur est partiellement recouverte par la barre des menus en haut de l'écran.

 If you’re a happy user of some other form of Linux, I don’t see any benefits from this distribution that would outweigh the customization and work that’s gone into building your existing system. Personally, I prefer the flexibility and current versions of software afforded to me by a rolling release distribution (specifically, Arch Linux or its derivatives). If you don’t mind giving up the ease of access to new software for more extensive testing and stability, then you may want to consider this distribution if you do creative work.

+Si vous êtes l'utilisateur heureux d'une autre forme de Linux, je ne vois pas comment les avantages de cette distribution pourraient compenser la personnalisation et tout le travail qui a été nécessaire pour construire votre système existant. Personnellement, je préfère la flexibilité et les versions à jour des logiciels que me procure une distribution à publication en continu (pour être précis, Arch Linux ou ses dérivés). Si vous ne voyez pas d'inconvénient à troquer la facilité d'accès à de nouveaux logiciels contre des tests exhaustifs et la stabilité, vous pourriez vouloir envisager l'adoption de cette distribution si vous avez des activités créatrices.
