For curiosity, I test the new beta Microsoft operating systems (Win 7, Win 8), but I hardly believe that I will like the Metro graphic environment due to the reasons detailed below.

Par curiosité, j'essaie les systèmes bêta de Microsoft (Win 7, Win 8), mais je ne pense pas que j'aimerais l'environnement graphique Metro pour les raisons détaillées ci-dessous.

There are also among them a lot of first-time computer users, including people over 80 years of age. Even these old people (male and female), on their own, could use Ubuntu for sending/receiving e-mails, browsing the Internet, watching videos, listening to music, using video or written only chat, even downloading and uploading files, after 2 to 3 months of active use!!!! Thanks to Ubuntu 8.04, 9.04, 10.04.

-These people claimed the user friendliness after updating the distribution and seeing the Unity environment - in the crowded, big-size icon mass, it is laborious to find the required program, or a utility to adjust and/or set some parameter, even if the names are in ABC order and written in lower-case. The selection of the categories are well hidden, and it is very slow to locate them. To change from one workplace to another also takes a lot of time - until a window opens in the actual workplace to show the selection icons. In a desktop machine, with or without a touch-screen, all these facilities are hard to use, or useless, and slow down the user’s experience. This theme is not practical at all in a productive business environment. Even if some people temporarily like this appearance, the serious computer user will quickly lose his/her interest in this laborious and difficult approach.

+Dès ma première rencontre avec Ubuntu, j'ai recruté beaucoup de fans d'Ubuntu, distribuant gratuitement un grand nombre de Live CD et leur enseignant comment s'en servir. Parmi eux, il y a aussi pas mal d'utilisateurs d'ordinateur débutants, y compris des gens qui ont plus de 80 ans. Même ces vieux (hommes et femmes), seuls, pouvaient utiliser Ubuntu pour envoyer et recevoir des courriels, surfer sur le net, regarder des vidéos, écouter de la musique, utiliser des logiciels de messagerie instantanée (par écrit ou avec vidéo), télécharger et envoyer des fichiers, après  seulement 2 à 3 mois d'utilisation active. Et ce, grâce à Ubuntu 8.04, 9.04 et 10.04.

+Ces mêmes gens se sont plaints du manque de convivialité après avoir fait une mise à niveau de la distribution et vu l'environnement d'Unity : sur le bureau, encombré de maintes icônes de grande taille, trouver le programme voulu ou un utilitaire pour ajuster et/ou régler quelque paramètre, s'avère très difficile, même si les noms sont par ordre alphabétique et écrits en minuscules.  Les catégories sont très bien cachées et il faut beaucoup de temps pour les trouver. Changer d'un bureau à un autre prend beaucoup de temps aussi - jusqu'à l'ouverture d'une fenêtre sur le bureau actuel affichant les icônes de sélection. Sur une machine de bureau, avec ou sans écran tactile, toutes ces fonctions sont difficiles à utiliser, ou carrément inutiles, et ralentissent l'expérience de l'utilisateur. Ce thème n'est pas du tout pratique dans un climat de travail productif. Même si certains aiment cette apparence temporairement, l'utilisateur/trice sérieux(se) perdra rapidement son intérêt pour cette approche difficile et laborieuse.
+Les utilisateurs inexpérimentés ont peur d'installer les distributions plus récentes d'Ubuntu (pour éviter que leur système d'exploitation actuel soit menacé). Ils ne feront pas la mise à niveau s'ils ont déjà un vieux Windows installé et n'ont pas l'argent/les connaissances nécessaires pour l'achat d'un nouveau système d'exploitation. Le partitionnement est difficile à faire pour des gens peu qualifiés.

 Finally, I have to say, I am happy to have discovered the wonders of the Ubuntu operating system, and now I understand why some people cry if somebody takes his/her toy!

+Dans le numéro 56 du magazine Full Circle, j'ai vu un article expliquant comment récupérer l'environnement Gnome Classic. C'est très bien, mais il est difficile pour moi de rendre visite à chaque utilisateur un peu perdu et le faire à leur place, l'un après l'autre ! Pourquoi n'est-il pas possible de le faire une fois pour toutes, en tant qu'étape du développement ?
