+Super Meat Boy is a platformer that is very challenging. You play as a cube of meat who is trying to save his girlfriend (who is made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux. It’s also no coincidence that Super Meat Boy shares its initials with Super Mario Bros. It is a pure platformer that, at its core, it’s nothing but running and jumping. Meat Boy’s goal is always the same: reach Bandage Girl who always gets snatched by Dr Fetus at the end of the level.
-To play Bastion, you just need to download and install it either from the Ubuntu Software Center, or through Steam. If you get it through the Ubuntu Software Center, then it will cost you $18.99, but through Steam the current selling price is $14.99. Having saved a little money by buying it through Steam, you can add the Bastion Soundtrack for $9.99 which is also highly recommended. Having installed the game, you're ready to play.
+To anyone who has played an old school platformer, you know what is to come; you will leap from walls over buzz saws, crumbling caves and pools of needles (sounds delightful). The meaty hero sacrifices his own well-being to save bandage girl. So, in a game like this, you have to make precision jumps and turns; so... making the controls right is essential for this type of game – which it does. The game is a delight to control and Meat Boy feels responsive to the commands given.

-One aspect I really like about Bastion is that you can play with either a mouse-keyboard setup or with a game controller. Originally I was playing the game with a mouse and keyboard. If you use a mouse and keyboard, then you will be using the standard W-A-S-D movement bindings, the mouse for attacking, and a few other keys for other miscellaneous things such as drinking a health bottle or a magic potion for special moves. When Steam became available for Ubuntu in February 2013, I re-installed the game and started from scratch. I also started using the Razer Onza RZ06 game controller, which by the way, works very well through Ubuntu. If you use a game controller, then you will be using the left analog stick for movement, and the A-B-X-Y buttons for attacking and such. No matter which option you go with, the actions will be the same; you can carry two weapons at a time in addition to one special move. You can change your choice of weapons and/or special moves any time as long as it's not during a battle level. To perform the special moves, you must consume an entire magic potion. You can carry up to three magic potions and three health bottles. The health bottles can be refilled in several fountains, but it's always wise to be conservative and know when to use a magic potion or a health bottle.
+Super Meat Boy est un jeu de plate-forme qui est très difficile. Vous incarnez un cube de viande qui essaie de sauver sa petite amie (qui est faite de bandages) contre un fœtus méchant dans un bocal portant un smoking. Ce n'est pas un hasard si Super Meat Boy partage ses initiales avec Super Mario Bros. C'est un pur jeu de plate-forme qui, à la base, n'est rien d'autre que de courir et sauter. L'objectif de Meat Boy est toujours le même : atteindre Bandage Girl qui se fait toujours capturer par le Dr Fœtus à la fin du niveau.
-In Bastion you play the role of The Kid, who wakes up from The Calamity – only to find Caeldonia, his homeland, gone to waste. In order to re-store Caeldonia to its former glory, The Kid must go to various colorful floating lands and collect Cores that give power to the Bastion so that it can re-create the great Caeldonia that once existed. Along the way, you must collect different kinds of weapons, powerful & exotic elixirs, and learn different special moves that improve your fighting skills so you can defeat a wide range of enemies who try to prevent you from collecting Cores. You also meet a few interesting people along the way who return to the Bastion and interact with The Kid along his quest to save Caeldonia. Perhaps the most important of these characters is an old man named Rucks who also happens to be the narrator of the story as well as The Kid's mentor who helps him along the way.

Le jeu est un plaisir à contrôler et Meat Boy répond bien aux ordres donnés.
-As you move through the game, the floating landmasses build walkways for you through which you can walk. Throughout the game you will encounter some of the most colorful and beautiful scenic graphics you have ever seen. The graphics are hand painted and truly unique. In the meantime, you are listening to the narrator tell your story with a play by play commentary of your every move with a most wicked sense of humor, while in the background plays one of the best soundtracks I've heard from a game in the last few years.

+Super Meat Boy brings back the difficulty of retro games such as Mega Man 2, etc. So you know  that you will be dying... a lot... and, to show you how many times that you had to do it, it replays them after you accomplished the level, showing all the tries at once. So, having done a level a fair amount of times, it appears as a blood bath on your screen, and is very amusing and shameful at the same time.
-The game auto-saves effortlessly, and, if you're playing it through Steam, then you've got that extra sense of security knowing that your progress is saved with their “Steam Cloud” feature, which means that no matter what computer you use, you can freely download and play the game while also maintaining your previous progress.
+The style of the game is also reminiscent of the old NES days, where it keeps it simple but is a delight to play. But, as I said, it is extremely difficult; make the smallest mistake and you will have to start the level over. And this will happen many times as there are no checkpoints, so, dying a hundred plus times at one level is going to happen – even for a hardcore gamer. The game also keeps a record of every death in the statistics menu; it became so tense that I had to use a controller to keep a grip of something as the tension rose after every death.

+Super Meat Boy remet d'actualité la difficulté des jeux rétro comme Mega Man 2, etc. Donc, vous savez que vous mourrez... beaucoup... et, pour vous montrer combien de fois vous aviez à le faire, il les rejoue après que vous avez accompli le niveau, montrant tous les essais à la fois. Ainsi, après avoir fait un niveau une bonne quantité de fois, il apparaît comme un bain de sang sur votre écran, et c'est très amusant et honteux à la fois.

+Le style de jeu est également une réminiscence de l'ancien temps de la NES (Console de Nintendo), où ça reste simple mais c'est un plaisir à jouer. Mais, comme je l'ai dit, il est extrêmement difficile ;  faites la moindre erreur et vous devrez recommencer le niveau. Et ceci se passera beaucoup de fois car il n'y a pas de points de contrôle, donc mourir plus d'une centaine de fois dans un niveau va arriver, même pour un joueur acharné. Le jeu conserve également une trace de tous les décès dans le menu des statistiques ; il est devenu tellement crispant que je devais utiliser une manette pour serrer quelque chose puisque la tension montait après chaque mort.
-I definitely recommend this game to anyone. Since I first played this game, I was very impressed by the artwork. It can be enjoyed by casual and hardcore gamers alike, no matter if they're young or old.

+On your first play through the game, you'll be so focused on completing each stage that many of the secrets held within the level will be missed. There are warp zones that take you to a secret area where you could find a new playable character from indie games such as Commander Video from the Bit Trip games. These characters that can be found have their own behaviours that might help in a level, so this is much welcomed replayability. There are also warp zones that take you to a different level where it changes the art style of the game – it may turn into a 8-bit game emulating the NES, Atari 2600 or Game Boy, and even has its own splash screen when entered the warp zone.

+The developers make their influences obvious, as the hilarious cutscenes have references from Ninja Gaiden to Mega Man 2. Even a Donkey Kong-themed level is called “Weibe” after Donkey Kong champion Steve Wiebe. Also, the soundtrack has a retro feel, and this has to be my personal favorite part of the game. The chiptune background music immerses you in the retro styled world that is Super Meat Boy.

+Lors de votre premier passage dans le jeu, vous serez tellement concentré sur la réalisation de chaque étape que beaucoup de secrets détenus dans le niveau seront manqués. Il y a des zones spéciales qui vous amènent dans un endroit secret où vous pourrez trouver un nouveau personnage jouable venant de jeux indépendants tels que Commander Video des éditions Bit Trip. Ces personnages qui peuvent être trouvés ont leurs propres comportements qui peuvent aider dans un niveau, donc c'est une façon de rejouer très appréciable. Il y a aussi des zones qui vous amènent à un autre niveau où le style d'art du jeu est modifié : il peut se transformer en un jeu 8-bit émulant la NES, l'Atari 2600 ou la Game Boy, et a même son propre écran d'accueil lors de l'entrée dans la zone spéciale.

+Les développeurs rendent évidentes leurs influences, puisque les cinématiques hilarantes ont des références allant de Ninja Gaiden à Mega Man 2. Même un niveau  avec le thème de Donkey Kong est appelé « Weibe » d'après le champion de Donkey Kong, Steve Wiebe. De plus, la bande-son est un peu rétro, et ceci est le côté du jeu que je préfère personnellement. La musique électronique de fond vous plonge dans le monde de style rétro qu'est Super Meat Boy.

-Overall, I give the game 4 out of 5 stars. The high price and short completion time, unfortunately, make me take out one full star. Other than that, it's a great game. If it were a little longer, or if it cost around $10, I would give it a perfect five out of five.
