This month, as promised, we’ll be looking at animating your video titles. Keyframes Before we do anything, let me quickly explain keyframes. In all animation, you have certain frames within the video that are ‘key’ to the animation. So, for example: you might have a title at position 0 (X) and 0 (Y) at (key)frame 0, and, at (key)frame 100, you might have the title at 100 (X) and 0 (Y). The computer will fill in the motion between frames 0 and 100 to create the animation. Let’s do a quick example. Scrolling Once you have a video file with a title added (as I explained last month), right-click on the title and choose Add Effect > Crop-and-Transform > Transform. In the top middle section of the window, you’ll see the properties for the Transform effect. If not, make sure you have selected the ‘Properties’ tab just above your video tracks. If you click and drag the little arrowhead below the horizontal line in the Transform properties, you’ll see that the start of the line is the start of your title, and the end of the line is the end of your title. Before we can do anything, we need to create keyframes along this line. Move the arrowhead to the start of the line. That other arrowhead is a keyframe that is added with the effect. Drag the arrowhead to the end of the line and click the addition/plus symbol (+) below the line. This will create a keyframe at the end of the title video.

Images-clés
Avant tout, laissez-moi vous expliquer les images-clés (keyframes). Dans toute animation, vous avez certaines images dans la vidéo qui sont « clés » pour l'animation. Ainsi, par exemple : vous pourriez avoir un titre en position 0 (X) et 0 (Y) comme image-clé 0 et, comme image-clé 100, vous pourriez avoir le titre à 100 (X) et 0 (Y). L'ordinateur remplira le mouvement entre les images 0 et 100 pour créer l'animation. Prenons un exemple rapide.
Défilement
Une fois que vous avez un fichier vidéo avec un titre ajouté (comme je l'ai expliqué le mois dernier), faites un clic droit sur le titre et choisissez Ajouter un effet > Rogner et transformer > Transform. Dans la section du haut au milieu de la fenêtre, vous verrez les propriétés de l'effet Transform. Sinon, assurez-vous que vous avez choisi l'onglet « Propriétés » juste au-dessus de vos pistes vidéos.
Si vous cliquez et tirez sur la petite pointe de flèche sous la ligne horizontale dans les propriétés de Transform, vous verrez que le départ de la ligne est le départ de votre titre, et que la fin de la ligne est la fin de votre titre. Avant que nous fassions quelque chose, nous devons créer des images-clés le long de cette ligne. Déplacez la pointe de flèche au début de la ligne. Cette autre pointe de flèche est l'image-clé qui est ajoutée avec cet effet. Tirez la pointe de flèche à la fin de la ligne et cliquez sur le symbole ajout/plus (+) sous la ligne. Ceci créera une image-clé à la fin de votre titre vidéo.
The X and Y values (currently at zero) are the vertical and horizontal coordinates of the title (measured from the middle). The W and H are the width and height (also measured from the center). While the arrowhead is at the end of the line, change the X value to something other than zero. I’ll use 400. Now, if you drag through the horizontal line, you’ll see the title move from left to right. Similarly, if I was to make X=0 and Y=50, I’d see the text scroll down the screen. Making Y=-50 would make it scroll up the screen. Play around with these values and you’ll have text whizzing all over the screen! TIP: see the red circle in the middle of your video preview window? You can click and drag that red circle to move your title around the screen visually. But wait! There’s more! Drag the arrowhead to the middle of the line and add another keyframe. So now we have one at the start, one roughly at the middle, and one at the end. These three are independent of each other. Tweak the three sets of values to have your text, say, move up then down, or to go up then go left. What if you wanted it to go up, pause, then move?

De même, si vous faites X=0 et Y=50, vous verrez le texte descendre à l'écran. Avec Y=-50, le titre glissera vers le haut de l'écran.
Amusez-vous avec ces valeurs et votre texte partira dans tous les sens sur l'écran !
ASTUCE : Vous voyez le cercle rouge au centre de votre fenêtre de prévisualisation vidéo ? Vous pouvez cliquer et tirer ce cercle rouge pour déplacer visuellement votre titre partout sur l'écran.
Mais, attendez ! Il y a plus !
Tirez la pointe de flèche au milieu de la ligne et ajoutez une autre image-clé. Ainsi, maintenant, vous en avez une au début, une en gros au centre et une à la fin. Ces trois sont indépendantes les unes des autres. Ajustez les trois jeux de valeurs pour voir votre texte, disons, monter puis descendre, ou monter avant d'aller à gauche. Ce que vous voudriez c'est monter, faire une pause, puis bouger ?
Well, you’d create a keyframe for the start, a keyframe for the end of the movement, a key frame for the end of the pause (which would be the same values as at the end of the movement), and then a keyframe for the end of the second movement. TIP: use the ‘previous’ and ‘next’ buttons on either side of the ‘add keyframe’ (+) button to quickly jump to the next/previous keyframe(s). Get creative! The distance (in frames) between keyframes is the speed of the animation, so, for slow animation, you’ll need to have a longer time span. Less time is faster animation. You may also have noticed other boxes below the X, Y, W and H numbers. Play with those too.
Eh bien ! Vous créeriez une image-clé au début, une image-clé pour la fin du mouvement, une pour la fin de la pause (qui aurait les mêmes valeurs que celle de la fin du mouvement) et ensuite une image-clé pour la fin du second mouvement.

Soyez créatif !
La distance (en images) entre les images-clés est la vitesse de l'animation ; aussi, pour une animation lente, vous aurez besoin d'allonger l'écart de temps. Moins de temps, c'est une animation plus rapide.
Vous pouvez avoir aussi noté les champs sous les valeurs de X, Y, W et H. Jouez également avec eux.
Size will grow/shrink your text. Opacity will make it more/less transparent, and Rotation will, of course, rotate your text. You have other options for interpolation and compositing. (Unfortunately shown as black boxes in my screens as Kdenlive isn’t playing nicely with my new install of Mint 18.1.) Tweaking values will let you scroll your text into place, and as it comes to the end of the scroll, fade in the text. Pause. Make it fade out, shrink, and move down out of the screen. Use your imagination. In theory, you can add any effect to your title, but mileage may vary on which ones work well with keyframes and titles.
La taille va grossir/rétrécir votre texte. L'opacité le rendra plus ou moins transparent et Rotation, bien sûr, tournera votre texte.
