 I downloaded the Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.10 ISO file from the official source using BitTorrent. Once I had the file, I did a command line SHA256 sum check on it, to make sure the file was good.

 The Cinnamon desktop’s bottom panel still can be adjusted in size over quite a large range, allowing it to be made much narrower or wider with the icons on the panel resizing automatically to fit. The control for this is found under “preferences - panel” and it has a default size of 40 pixels. The menu continues to be adjustable in size as well, which is a nice option.

 Based on the minimal changes introduced in this first new interim release, I expect that there will be very little new over this cycle, resulting in the next LTS just having a few updates and not much more. Since most Ubuntu Cinnamon users seem to like how it works right now and don’t see a need to change things, this is actually a good plan. I use Ubuntu Cinnamon as my main daily operating system and, I have to say, I love how well it works.

+Comme dans des versions antérieures, la liste des applications par défaut dans Ubuntu Connamon 24.10 est très longue et comprend à peu près tout ce qu’un utilisateur de bureau pourrait désirer, sauf peut-être un éditeur de vidéos. Toutefois, il reste toujours beaucoup d’applications similaires, comme deux émulateurs de terminal, deux visionneurs d’images, deux éditeurs d’images et deux gestionnaires de paquets de logiciels. Qui plus est, il y a 19 jeux. Tout cela donne des menus encombrés. Comme je l’ai déjà remarqué par le passé, une vraie option d’« installation minimale », comme l'ont Ubuntu et Xubuntu, serait bienvenue.

+Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.10 est une version sympa et solide, même si elle propose très peu de nouveautés pour convaincre les utilisateurs d’Ubuntu Cinnamon de quitter la dernière version LTS, en dehors du noyau Linux mis à jour.
+Étant donné les changements minimaux introduits dans cette première version intérimaire, je m’attends à ce qu’il y ait très peu de nouveautés au cours de ce cycle, ce  qui fera que la prochaine LTS aura quelques mises à jour mais pas beaucoup plus. Puisque la plupart des utilisateurs d’Ubuntu Cinnamon semblent aimer sa façon de fonctionner actuellement et ne voient pas le besoin de changer les choses, c’est en fait un bon plan. J’utilise Ubuntu Cinnamon comme système d’exploitation quotidien principal et je dois dire que j’aime son excellent fonctionnement.
