+Cette réponse n'est ni un iPad, ni une tablette Android. Soit nous ne nous adonnons pas à Apple, n'en pouvons pas rationaliser les frais ou, tout simplement, n'en avons pas les moyens. Au plus bas de l'échelle, ces tablettes ne sont rien de plus que des smartphones et, que diable ! les gens intelligents en ont un déjà. En outre, les traces voilées de doigts sur un clavier virtuel n'ont jamais été assimilables à un avantage quelconque.

 The next question is what to run on it? The end of the long tail of Windows XP is in sight, although you find far too many XP installations which are now effectively out of support. Windows 7 is in the ascendant. The machines are powerful enough to run it, multi-tasking office, and browser and email clients. It seems the early experiments in Xandros and Linpus-Lite Linux are about done, not that I'm sorry.

+J'ai donc acheté un netbook, tout comme un ami qui dirige une société de formation - un techno-sceptique, tout comme Dave Wilkins du podcast - qui n'avait pas d'argent disponible, mais besoin d'un ordinateur vraiment portable. Deux autres amis, dont l'un est allergique à la technologie et l'autre allergique au port d'objets lourds, pensent en acheter un.

L'interminable fin de Windows XP est visible à l'horizon, bien que vous trouvez beaucoup trop d'installations d'XP qui sont actuellement sans support en réalité. Windows 7 est à l'ascendant. Les machines sont assez puissantes pour pouvoir l'exécuter, avec la bureautique en multi-tâches, un navigateur web et un client mail. Il paraît que l'expérimentation du début avec Xandros et Linpus-Lite Linux est a peu près terminée, ce qui ne me chagrine pas.
